Abruzzo

Discover our beautiful and diverse region through stories, pictures and our guide.

Trabocco

Trabocchi are marine buildings used as fishing machines, made out of wood. They don’t have a specific form, because the foundations are laid on the sea and the reef, which leads to a harmony between man and nature. From the platforms there are wooden arms that support nets by means of a complex system of pulleys and ropes. They have a light and dynamic architecture in relationship with the forces of nature, that put a strain on the structure.
